Navigating the Minnesota Highway 61

Whether coming from the northeast or southwest, keep your eyes peeled on MN Hwy 61 for signs leading you to the Grand Portage National Monument. These signs are your first clue that you're nearing this remarkable state attraction.

Making the Correct Turns

As you approach the Grand Portage Trading Post, prepare to make a timely exit. If you're travelling northeast, take a right, otherwise a left turn from Hwy 61. This turn will lead you onto Casino Road. Your next move? Take a left at the first stop sign you encounter on Casino Road. This will smoothly transition you onto Mile Creek Road.

Finding Mile Creek Road

Continue on Mile Creek Road for about 3/4 mile. Keep an eye out for a large, wooden sign heralding your arrival at the Grand Portage National Monument. Once spotted, make a left turn up the short hill, and voila! You've arrived at the Heritage Center parking lot of the Grand Portage National Monument.
