Assateague Island National Seashore is accessible through two main entrances. The northern entrance is strategically positioned at the termination of Route 611, situated a mere eight miles south of the lively Ocean City, MD. On the other hand, the southern entrance is located at the end of Route 175, just two miles east of the charming town of Chincoteague, VA.
Important Information About Vehicle Access
It's important to note that there's no vehicle passage between the two entrances on Assateague Island. To access either the north or south entrance, vehicles are required to return to the mainland.
